Pokémon 151 is the most sought-after modern set in Italy; collectors also cite the Chinese version of the Pikachu (no. 170) as a variant worth looking for.

What to know

Beyond Mew and Charizard, Pokémon 151 has three highly sought-after cards: Alakazam ex SIR 201/165, the Trainer Erika's Invitation SIR 203/165 (among the most expensive Trainer cards of the era) and the Pikachu Illustration Rare 173/165. The set was also released in Simplified Chinese, with different numbering; the Chinese version of the Pikachu is prized by Italian collectors but is not listed by TCGdex. Check the texture of the SIRs and the centring.
